CBSE SESSION ON MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS AND GENDER SENSITIVITY
On 28th March the CBSE Capacity-Building Programme focused on two deeply relevant themes—mental health awareness in schools and gender sensitivity. The session was led by Dr. Nishi Sehrawat Phogat, whose expertise in counselling and mental health brought depth and clarity to the discussions. She emphasized the growing need for emotional awareness within school environments and highlighted the role of teachers as not just educators, but also as mentors and support systems for students.
Through meaningful insights and real-life connections, teachers were sensitized to recognize emotional needs, create safe classroom spaces, and encourage open communication. The discussion on gender sensitivity further broadened perspectives, stressing the importance of respect, equality, and inclusivity in everyday interactions.
The session encouraged educators to reflect on their attitudes, language, and practices, ensuring that schools remain spaces where every child feels valued and understood. The session concluded on a thoughtful note, leaving participants with a deeper sense of responsibility and awareness.
